Local Authority Challenge

The 2007 Direct Debit Challenge awards winners

Nine councils were presented awards at the 2007 Local Authority Direct Debit Challenge at the Institute of Revenues, Rating & Valuation (IRRV) annual conference in Brighton.

Council tax awards

For achieving the highest percentage increase in Direct Debit sign up for council tax between 1 July 2006 and 30 June 2007.

Marketing Campaign achievement award

Recognising an impressive marketing campaign that used innovative and creative ideas.

New entrant award

For the local authority entering the programme for the first ever time that achieved the highest percentage increase in Direct Debit penetration in council tax.

Commended: London Borough of Islington; Vale Royal Borough Council

Each winning local authority received £500 to donate to a charity of their choice. All of the commended councils received a certificate of achievement.

Direct Debit achievement awards

Two councils, Bassetlaw District Council and Colchester Council received a Direct Debit achievement award in recognition of their continued support and promotion of Direct Debit.
