ADDACS

The Automated Direct Debit Amendment and Cancellation Service

Late receipt of Direct Debit amendments and cancellations information can be costly to organisations in terms of time and money. ADDACS streamlines the process and ensures that you receive this information quickly and with dramatically reduced risk of error.

ADDACS automates the process of paying banks informing organisations of changes to Direct Debit Instructions. It is a faster method of communicating changes and reduces the number of unpaid Direct Debits and resulting indemnity claims. Changes may include amendments to the customer's account or a request from the customer to cancel a Direct Debit.

The majority of banks use ADDACS. They electronically send their Direct Debit Instruction amendments and cancellations via the BACS service for distribution to the organisation, either electronically or by post. Some of the smaller banks however may give their amendment /cancellation details using a manual advice form which is sent directly to you.

Benefits

ADDACS offers you a wide range of benefits. Since the notification of amendments and cancellations to you is electronic, it creates major improvements in the speed of processing.

There are no postal or handling delays. Details of your amendments and cancellations are accessible from 8.00 am on the working day after they have been input by the bank.

Since you receive ADDACS information electronically, there are no additional administrative costs associated with keying them in or delays caused by printing and posting the advices. You can simply feed the information directly into your database.

Your customer service is also improved, as your systems can be adapted to generate standard letters in accordance with reason codes to keep your customers informed.

Improved cashflow as a result of faster receipt and application of advices which can reduce the number of unpaids and indemnity claims.

How it works

Customers notify their bank of any changes or cancellations to their Direct Debit Instructions. The bank consolidate these changes and pass the details to you using ADDACS, via the BACS service.
