Bacs services

Currently Bacs processes more than 5.6 billion financial transactions a year through its principle schemes, Direct Debit and Bacs Direct Credit, equating to approximately £3.85 trillion in 2008.
 
At the end of November 2007, the number of transactions processed in one day through Bacs reached a daily processing peak of more than 90.3 million items. The highest peak day for payments in 2008 occurred in November when Bacs debited or credited bank accounts, in a 24 hour period with 88.3 million payments.
