Ian Ellis

Ian Ellis joined Bacs in Spring 2004 to develop and lead the company’s strategic outlook in a rapidly changing UK and European banking industry. His role includes working with and influencing leading industry bodies and regulatory authorities, such as the new (UK) Payments Council and the European Payments Council.
For four years Ian has represented the UK on the European Payments Council’s "Electronic Direct Debit Working Group", developing the new SEPA pan-European direct debit scheme. In December 2005 he established the Bacs Affiliates programme, the first of its kind in the UK, and is presently responsible for the delivery of a number of other Bacs projects.
Prior to joining Bacs, Ian spent nine years at Barclays Bank and has a proven track record in managing a wide range of domestic and international money transmission products. In recent years he has been involved in numerous payment-system related forums. Ian is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers. Back to our speakers page
