What is the Transfer of Direct Debits and Standing Orders service?
The Transfer of Direct Debits and Standing Orders service (ToDDaSO) is part of the account switching service. It is the process by which any Direct Debits and/or Standing Orders on a customer's old account are transferred to their new account.
How does it work?

- New bank - advises the organisations collecting the Direct Debit payments, via ADDACS, of the new account details and sets up any agreed Standing Orders on the new account in time for the transfer date
- New bank - advises the customer's old bank to cancel the Direct Debits and Standing Orders at the appropriate time
- Old bank - ensures all payment instructions are cancelled on the request of the new paying bank or from the customer directly and generates an electronic ADDACS cancellation/closure advice for each Direct Debit transferred
