Bacs continues to evolve its schemes, bringing benefits to service users and consumers alike.  Current product developments could have an impact on local authorities.

Changes to be made to the Direct Debit Guarantee by January 2011
In 2009, Bacs published the revised Service User Guide and Rules which included an amendment to the Direct Debit Guarantee.  With effect from 1 January 2011 all organisations offering Direct Debit payments must use the revised Direct Debit Guarantee. 

Direct Debit Indemnity Claim Automation (DDICA)
Bacs has taken the opportunity to automate one of the last remaining paper based processes associated with Direct Debit, the handling of indemnity claims. The automated process was introduced in October, 2010.

News on the extended industry sorting code directory
The extended industry sorting code directory (EISCD) can be incorporated into your computer systems to help automate payment processes including the checking of account details and completion of crucial documentation.
