Bacs complements CSR strategy with support for National Trust
Bacs Payment Schemes Ltd (Bacs), the organisation behind the Direct Debit and Bacs Direct Credit payments schemes, has added further weight to its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme by joining the National Trust Corporate Supporters Scheme for 2010/2011.
The new relationship demonstrates Bacs’ commitment to environmental protection and conservation and sees the company participate in a number of National Trust activities - including the Employer Supported Volunteering Programme, where Bacs’ staff will take part in volunteering projects at National Trust estates and reserves.
The National Trust activity builds on existing Bacs’ CSR initiatives, including conducting a carbon footprint assessment of Bacs’ mainstream financial products, illustrating the positive impact of paying regular bills by Direct Debit on the environment and enhance end user eco credentials.
Commenting on Bacs’ new CSR initiative, Michael Chambers Managing Director of Bacs, said:
"CSR has always been something Bacs has taken seriously; making proactive moves to pledge the support of the company’s employees to organisations that add significant value to our community.
"We hold a great respect and admiration for the work of the National Trust and are delighted to now be working with them in helping to conserve the nation's heritage. Having always taken a firm stance on ensuring both our products and our business operations have minimal impact on the environment, we see our partnership with the National Trust as an extension of our commitment to combating environmental issues. We are greatly looking forward to supporting them over the course of the next year on a wide range of truly valuable projects."
