In May, we shared the results of our consultation into Direct Debit, looking at how we could make this great payment method even better. We wanted - and are still committed - to ensuring this flagship product remains relevant and truly fit-for-purpose in a fast moving payments landscape.
And, taking on board the results of our stakeholders who fed into the consultation, we've been busy working on how Direct Debit can be refreshed or improved, without undermining its core attributes.
That has led to the identification of some concepts that we have been looking at in detail, importantly, with the help of our extensive Direct Debit community. We're conscious of the key role our product plays for both businesses and end consumers alike, so we cannot, and would not, make any changes without thorough and proper consideration, and feedback from our users.
As a result, we have been testing a range of potential product enhancements throughout 2017 and this will continue into the New Year.
In the meantime, what I can tell you is that all of this work, all of the changes being considered, are centred around the needs of end users, and the benefits and protections they could realise from any alteration to this important product.
