Bacs has published a series of research papers that look at consumer engagement in the current account market, exploring how the Current Account Switch Service can enable the creation of a better market, through analysis of our Market Dynamics Model. We partnered with University of Bristol to look closely at the motivators for, and barriers to, switching. The first three papers in the series of reports focused on providing an insight into the impact that trust and loyalty has on the propensity to switch.
The fourth summarises our research findings to date and explores what constitutes an effective and competitive current account market for consumers.
In addition, we developed a discussion paper, ‘Interventions to Foster an Effective and Competitive Current Account Market’, which introduces a proposed measurement framework and, critically, explores the likely effect of interventions that we and the wider community can offer the market.
