Over half of the organisations using the Bacs service make their payment submissions through one of our approved bureaux rather than submitting directly to Bacs. The Third Party Assurance Team review the appropriateness of the bureaux to ensure they meet the standards set by the scheme.
The Bacs approved bureaux directory is an alphabetical listing of Bacs approved bureaux. Bureaux can opt out of appearing in the directory if required. A copy of the directory can be found in the Information Hub below or to the right of your screen.

The Bacs Approved Bureau (BAB) Scheme undertakes regular inspections that assess the technical competence and operational integrity of existing and applicant BABs. Pay.UK does not undertake any assessment nor make any representation in respect of the suitability or otherwise of any approved bureaux for any other purpose. Accordingly a potential user of a BAB should obtain appropriate independent professional advice.
As the name of the Scheme implies, the BAB Scheme operates at bureau number rather than service user number level and operations at service user number level are outside the scope of the BAB Scheme. Responsibility for service user number operations remain with the Sponsoring participant that the service user number has a banking relationship with.
