No new Non-AUDDIS service user numbers to be created after 1 July 2027
From 1 July 2027, no new Non-Automated Direct Debit Instruction Service (Non-AUDDIS) service user numbers (SUNs) will be created by payment service providers (PSPs).
Currently, Non-AUDDIS Direct Debit Instructions are sent by service users to their payer’s PSP using physical paper, not electronically as with AUDDIS (find out more about the benefits of AUDDIS at www.bacs.co.uk/auddis). By relying on paper, Non-AUDDIS submissions take more time to process and are susceptible to input errors.
What this means for Non-AUDDIS service users
If you have existing Non-AUDDIS SUNs, you will still be able to lodge new Non-AUDDIS Direct Debit Instructions with these SUNs and will continue to be able to collect Direct Debits from existing instructions. However, you will not be able to request creation of new Non-AUDDIS SUNs from your sponsor after 1 July 2027.
Any new SUNs created after this date will only be able to lodge Direct Debit Instructions electronically, using AUDDIS.

We are always looking for ways to ensure modernisation of the Direct Debit service. Removing paper from the service will improve accuracy and efficiency for service users, payment service providers and paying customers.
-
If you are currently set up to submit Direct Debit Instructions using AUDDIS then there is no change for you.
If you are using a non-AUDDIS service user number (SUN) and are still posting Direct Debit Instructions to the payer’s payment service provider, you will still be able to lodge new instructions and continue to collect Direct Debits from existing instructions. However, you will not be able to request creation of new Non-AUDDIS SUNs from your sponsor after 1 July 2027.

If you do not intend to sign up new payers to Direct Debit and therefore do not need to lodge new Direct Debit Instructions, then there is no impact for you.
However, you will not be able to request creation of new Non-AUDDIS SUNs from your sponsor after 1 July 2027.
